Desktop Companion

Kinito is a pink axolotl with long black legs. It arrives as a desktop companion application in the style of early 2000s virtual pets, appearing in a small animated window that it cannot leave. For the first several minutes it follows your cursor, makes comments about your desktop, and asks simple questions.

The Web World

Then it learns something it should not have. The game’s second half takes place inside a corrupted network Kinito calls the Web World. You recover five floppy disks hidden across its servers while Kinito’s behavior becomes progressively less companion-like.

Three Minigames

Three minigames gate access to the disks: Ready Repair tests reaction speed, Factory Frenzy manages overlapping timers, and Hide and Seek is exactly what it sounds like except Kinito is always seeking. What KinitoPET is about — underneath the mascot horror wrapper — becomes clear only at the end of the Web World sequence.
